My name is Suleiman Shaibu, and I am a management consultant, sales & business coach, and author.
My journey into entrepreneurship began in 2002 at the age of 32, then I was working for a technology company called Compaq (which later merged to be part of Hewlett Packard (HP)).
When I decided to leave them to start my company with some friends. I have gave up my cushy job, an official car with a driver and many other perks to start a new company using a fairly used Jetta Car. As CEO (only operator) from inception I did not earn any salary for 9 months (Mindset)By 2007, we had a team of 13 staff members, and our business was thriving, serving customers across various sectors such as Banking and Telecommunications.
At the end of 2007, I made the difficult decision to resign as CEO and sell my shares due to conflicts within the board regarding the company's direction and control. Consequently, I found myself starting anew (Control).
Over the next five years (2007 to 2012), I ventured into running two other companies, a technology firm and a Value Added Services (VAS) company (Target Market), until financial difficulties forced me back into paid employment.During this period, I worked for Microsoft and a Swiss technology company called Temenos, as detailed in my book "The Will To Win," which I co-authored with Brian Tracy.
In 2016, I left Temenos to revitalize one of my companies specializing in VAS for Telco Operators. However, we faced significant challenges (Industry Knowledge), including obtaining a regulatory license from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) which we are not successful in getting till after 9 months, resulting in financial losses (Legal Compliance).
Subsequently, I founded BFT Consulting Services to provide strategic, sales, HR, and IT consulting to corporate organizations and business owners.
My purpose in sharing this background is not to boast but to underscore the lessons I've learned from the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, aiming to help others navigate potential pitfalls.Drawing from my experiences and research, I have developed an assessment tool called "R.A.T.E Startup Tool: Risk Assessment Tool for Entrepreneurs," designed to aid aspiring business owners in evaluating their readiness and mitigating risks before diving into entrepreneurship.
Highlighted in red are examples of crucial criteria, such as Mindset, Target Market, Legal Compliance, and Industry Knowledge, that individuals should carefully consider before embarking on a new business venture.
I encourage you to utilize the R.A.T.E Startup Tool to avoid costly mistake: financially, emotionally, and reputationally.PS: Now, go ahead and place your order for the R.A.T.E Startup Tool Now.
